PA Bat Fest 5k & 1 Mile Fun Walk
PA Bat Fest is a community running and walking event held at Gring’s Mill Recreation Area in Reading, PA on October 24, 2026. The event benefits the PA Bat Conservation and Rehabilitation Center, whose mission includes veterinary care, rehabilitation and release of sick or injured bats, public education, and sanctuary for non-releasable animals.

The 5k uses a flat, fast, wheel measured course alongside a creek. A clock at the finish provides instant results and the 5k is manually timed by Pretzel City Sports. Refreshments are provided at the end of the race. The race is held rain or shine and the race director may alter or cancel the event for safety reasons.
5k awards include 1st overall male and female plus top three male and female finishers in these age groups: 17 & under, 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. The 1 Mile Fun Walk is a noncompetitive participation option and does not include awards.
Entry fees are tiered: the early entry fee includes a guaranteed t-shirt if registered by October 10, 2026; later and race day entries follow the published fee schedule. Online pre-registration is required for advance entries and race day registration accepts cash only; mail-in forms and checks are not accepted.
