Owen Valley Haunted Wine Run 5K
The event is a chip-timed 5k run/walk held at Owen Valley Winery in Spencer, Indiana. The course starts and finishes at the winery and follows a cross-country style route through the vineyard with several turns. The route is organized as a two-lap course; participants who choose to skip the second lap may notify the timer and be switched to a 1.5k result.
Registration includes a super soft ring spun cotton T-shirt, a shatterproof collapsible wine glass, a finisher medal, and a race bib. Results are posted online and each registrant receives a pour of wine at the finish, with wine-related items provided only to participants of legal drinking age. Packet pick-up is available on race morning only, beginning one hour before the race.
The local charity partner for the event is the YMCA. The event offers age group awards for the top three finishers in each of ten-year age categories; awards are distributed the day of the event only and are not available for shipment. Competitive runners must start with the first group to be eligible for age group awards, and winners should pick up awards at the registration table after results are posted.
Minors may participate with a discounted registration and receive a shirt, medal, and bib; they will not receive a wine glass or a pour of wine. Strollers are permitted but not recommended due to uneven ground. Dogs are not allowed on site. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
