Outrun Hunger - Commerce Township
Outrun Hunger is an annual charity 5K and 1 Mile run and walk held in Commerce Township, Michigan. The 2026 event is the 16th edition and takes place on Saturday, November 14, 2026 at Commerce Township Hall, 2009 Township Drive, Commerce, MI 48390. Proceeds are directed to local families through two partnering food pantries: Hospitality House Food Pantry of Commerce and Open Door Outreach Center of Waterford. The organization reports that 100% of donations and registrations (excluding transaction fees) are gifted to these pantries.
The event includes organized competition and participant awards. Races are professionally chip timed by the Michigan Running Foundation. All participants receive a 16th year anniversary finisher medal. Additional giveaways and awards include registration-based caps and gift cards, age-group prizes for the 5K and 1 Mile, and team challenge awards with prizes for largest and fastest teams.
Race logistics and participant information provided by the organizer note the course surface is a combination of crushed asphalt and pavement, that the course is stroller friendly only for running strollers with large wheels, and that pets are not permitted for safety reasons. Post-race food and drinks are supplied at a food tent. Registration fees are non-refundable but entries can be transferred to another individual.
