Outpost 8k - Flatrock, Newfoundland and Labrador

Outpost 8k is a trail race held on July 4, 2026, in Flatrock, Newfoundland and Labrador. The route starts at the trailhead on Windgap Road, follows paths out to a large boulder known as "The Outpost", then returns along the coastal trail to Torbay Beach. The advertised distance is approximately 8 km; if construction at Tapper's Cove Wharf requires a detour the course may be closer to 8.8 km.

The course includes narrow single track and wider paths with a mix of climbs and descents. Trails used are open to the public; participants are asked to announce passes (for example "on the left" or "on the right") to reduce disturbance to hikers.

Field size is limited to 150 entrants. The event maintains three categories (M/F/X) with medals for the top three in each category. Entry cost is $33 plus fees. Registrations are final: no refunds, no transfers, and no deferrals. There will be no waitlist; registration may reopen on June 20 to fill spots freed by cancellations.

This is a not-for-profit event. Collected funds will cover operational, equipment, and health and safety costs; any surplus will be donated to the East Coast Trail Association and other local organizations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
