Outpost 8k is a trail race in Flatrock, Newfoundland and Labrador, scheduled for July 4, 2026. The course begins at the Father Troy's Trail trailhead on Windgap Road, runs out to a large boulder known as "The Outpost", then follows the coastal trail to Torbay Beach. The distance is listed as roughly 8 kilometers; if construction at Tapper's Cove Wharf requires a detour the total distance could be closer to 8.8 km.
The route includes single track and wider paths with uphill and downhill sections and some technical terrain. Entry is limited to 150 participants to reduce environmental impact and ease event logistics. The race includes a time cutoff of either 1 hour 45 minutes or 2 hours depending on whether the detour is needed.
Entry fee is stated as $33 plus fees. The event is not for profit and collected funds are used for operational and equipment costs and health and safety measures; any surplus will be donated to local organizations including the East Coast Trail Association.
