The Event
OUTLAST Dallas Fort Worth is a 6-hour endurance challenge. Participants run a 5K trail lap every hour, on the hour. To stay in the event, each lap must be completed within that hour. Finishing a lap early allows for rest until the next start. If a lap is not finished on time, the participant is eliminated. Completing all six laps means a runner has "outlasted" the event.
The Course and Details
The course is on trail terrain with natural features like dirt, rocks, roots, and elevation changes. Some pavement and gravel may be present. The event takes place at the Lake Ray Roberts Johnson Branch Unit in Valley View, Texas. There are two event formats: a general 6 Hour Challenge and a 6 Hour Championship for qualifiers only.
What Participants Receive
All participants receive a premium OUTLAST t-shirt. Runners who complete four laps earn a "Grit Earned" patch, five laps a "Survivor" patch, and all six laps a premium "OUTLAST" medal.
Competition and Prizes
The top male and female finishers with the fastest combined time from all six laps win a 1st Place OUTLAST award at the event and $1000 each. All finishers who complete six laps are ranked on a national leaderboard. The fastest runner across all OUTLAST events nationally wins $1000 and the title of National Champion. The top 100 national times from the 2026-2027 tour are invited to a championship event in 2027.
Event Logistics
An aid station at the basecamp provides water, basic hydration, and snacks. The event is cupless, so participants must bring their own bottle or hydration system. Participants are allowed to set up a personal tent or aid station. Packet pickup and shuttle services are available before the event start.
