Out With the Old - In With the New
Out With the Old - In With the New is a two day 5K run/walk event held at the RARA Building and on nearby trails in Rochester, Michigan. The course uses a mixture of rail trail and dirt trails through the back of Bloomer Park and is described as mostly flat. Parking is available in the RARA lot and the adjacent Clinton River Trail lot. Dogs are not allowed inside the RARA building.
Three entry options are offered:
- Out With the Old (Dec 31, 2026) 5K
- In With the New (Jan 1, 2027) 5K
- Both Days OLD/NEW 5K
Each day has a participant cap of 270. Single-day registration fees are listed at $30 and the both-days option is listed at $50. Each day awards a unique finisher medal; the two-day medals are designed to fit together. Day 1 includes a T-shirt exchange where participants may bring a clean used race shirt to trade, plus light finisher snacks and water. Day 2 includes waffles and mimosas after the finish. Top awards are listed by overall and by age group categories including 0-19, 20-59, and 60+. The event lists Neighborhood House as a charity partner and notes that the organization serves over 3,000 households per year and that 25% of families in its service area are living paycheck to paycheck or worse.
