Otter Creek Trail Race
Otter Creek is a trail running event held at Otter Creek Park in Brandenburg, Kentucky. Managed by Headfirst Performance, this event takes place in December and utilizes the local singletrack trail system. The course consists of a loop layout featuring sections of pine needles and segments that run alongside the creek. The terrain includes rolling hills throughout the park.
Participants can choose from several distance options:
- Marathon (26.2 miles)
- 16 Miler
- 8 Miler
The race provides fully stocked aid stations located every 4 to 5 miles along the course. For the marathon distance, a team category is available where teams can have any number of runners. Each team member completes the full marathon, and the top three individual times are combined to determine the winning team.
Post-race activities include a chili cook-off, where participants can enter their own recipes. All entrants in the cook-off receive an apron, and the winners are awarded a prize. All race participants receive a long-sleeve shirt and a carved wooden finisher medal. Individual prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each race distance.
For accommodations, heated cabins with bunk beds are available at the start and finish area, sleeping up to 14 people each.
