OTT Winter Ultras
The OTT Winter Ultras take place on 30 January 2027 in the Brecon Beacons. The event offers two self-guided ultramarathons over winter mountain terrain, with long periods in darkness and exposed, rugged sections.

Entry is restricted to experienced ultra runners who have previously completed at least 50 miles. The route is self-guided; runners must navigate using provided and personal navigation equipment.
A detailed compulsory kit list specifies minimum technical requirements. Key items include a waterproof jacket with hood (minimum 20,000 mm hydrostatic head and fully taped seams), waterproof trousers (minimum 10,000 mm), and an emergency insulation jacket (minimum 100 g fill). Thermal base layers must be full length and at least 150 gsm. Runners must carry two hats (one thermal/fleece), two pairs of gloves, full enclosure survival bivvy, insulating sleeping mat, survival whistle, and a clip-on red safety light.
Lighting and electronics requirements include a primary headlamp of at least 300 lumens with spare power for prolonged night use, an independent backup headlamp of at least 100 lumens, a fully charged mobile phone in a waterproof case, and a backup power bank of minimum 10,000 mAh. Navigation kit must include a physical waterproof paper map, a magnetic compass, and a GPS device pre-loaded with the official GPX file. Additional mandatory items cover fluid capacity, emergency food rations, appropriate mountain footwear and ice spikes, and a basic first aid kit with specified contents.
