Ultra-R
Ultra-R is the OTT Ultra run in reverse on 20 June 2027. The change of direction is applied to the standard OTT Ultra route and the event takes place in summer.
The route runs over rugged trails and includes big climbs, remote sections, fast descents and technical terrain. The event is offered to runners starting ultra distances as well as to more experienced runners.
There are four checkpoints on the route. Each checkpoint will have water and food available and the race is cup-less, so runners must bring their own cup. Checkpoint 1 is at Ffynnondwyn at 6 miles, Checkpoint 2 is at Torpantau Train Station at 13 miles, Checkpoint 3 is at Pont yr daf Car Park at 19.5 miles, and Checkpoint 4 is at Cwm Cadlen Road Crossing at 26 mile.
The cut-off at checkpoint 3 is six hours after the start of the race, which requires an average pace of about 20 minutes per mile or quicker to reach that point within the time limit.
Compulsory kit includes a fully charged mobile phone, a minimum of 1 litre of hydration, a foil blanket or bivi bag, a basic first aid kit, a torch, a whistle, waterproof jacket and trousers, warm layer with hat and gloves, and a bag or rucksack.
