ORRC Vernonia Marathon, Half Marathon, and Marathon Relay
The ORRC Vernonia Marathon and accompanying races take place on a point-to-point course primarily along the Banks-Vernonia State Trail. This tree-lined route features a gentle 7-mile section with a 400-foot descent leading toward the finish. For the majority of the journey, 23 miles of the course are closed to vehicular traffic.
Participants can choose from several distances:
- Full Marathon: A USATF-certified point-to-point course and Boston Marathon qualifier starting at Cedar Ridge Retreat Center in Vernonia and finishing at the Banks High School track.
- Half Marathon: A USATF-certified course starting at Hilltop in Stub Stewart State Park, joining the main trail at mile 2 and finishing at the Banks High School track.
- Marathon Relay: A 4-person relay following the full marathon course, divided into four legs of varying distances.
The event provides shuttle buses to transport participants to their respective starting lines. The marathon relay has a 7-hour time limit for teams to complete the course. The finish line for all events is located on the track at Banks High School. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
