Event Overview

The ORRC Vernonia Marathon takes place in Banks, Oregon, utilizing the Banks-Vernonia State Trail. This point-to-point event features a course that is largely closed to vehicular traffic, with 23 miles of the route separated from cars. The route is characterized by tree-lined surroundings and includes a gentle seven-mile section with a 400-foot downhill descent leading into the finish area.

The marathon course is USATF certified and serves as a qualifier for the Boston Marathon. Participants have access to hot food and hot shower facilities following the completion of their distance. The event accommodates both runners and walkers.

Available distances and categories include:

  • Marathon (26.2 miles): A full-length individual race on a certified course.
  • Half Marathon (13.1 miles): A USATF certified individual race.
  • 4-Person Marathon Relay (26.2 miles): Divided into legs of 4.65, 8.45, 5.3, and 7.8 miles.
  • 2-Person Marathon Relay (26.2 miles): A two-person team competition.
