Orange Shirt Day Run/Walk Calgary
The Orange Shirt Day Run/Walk Calgary is an inaugural remembrance event on September 30, 2026, held at North Glenmore Park, Crowchild Trail Southwest, Calgary, AB, Canada. The run and walk combine paved and gravel sections and follow pedestrian pathways that overlook the Glenmore Reservoir and Weaslehead Flats. All routes begin near the Calgary Canoe Club on the pedestrian pathway and use out and back formats.
Distances offered:
- 2.15 km Elder and children route
- 5 km route along the Glenmore Pathway
- 10 km route on the paved pathway
Turnaround points are specified for each distance: the 2.15 km turnaround is just past Parking Lot F above the Blue Heron Picnic Site; the 5 km turnaround is near the top of the hill into Weaslehead Natural Area; the 10 km turnaround is marked beside a bench, a garbage bin, and a map of the Glenmore Reservoir.
The event is presented as a remembrance to honor children who did not survive the residential school era and to show solidarity with survivors seeking healing and justice. Proceeds will support Orangeshirtday.org and local grassroots movements, including initiatives to promote and support Indigenous athletes. A cancellation policy is provided by the organizer.
