Operation Obstacle 2026
Operation Obstacle 2026 is the sixth annual timed obstacle course event presented by Richland Community College in coordination with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Illiana Health Care Suicide Prevention Team. The event takes place at the Richland Community College Fitness Center, College Park, Decatur, IL on September 19, 2026, and raises funds for the college's Student Veterans Resource Center.
The course is a 2-mile loop that is mostly flat and features about 20 to 25 obstacles. Obstacles include short distance carrying and pulling, army net crawls, and climbing over, under, and through structures. A fire truck hose down is located at the finish area. The event is timed and offers competitive, semi-competitive, and non-competitive corrals; the non-competitive corral allows participants to jog or walk and to skip some or all obstacles.
All participants receive a finisher's challenge coin and a goodie bag. T-shirts are offered during registration for an additional fee. Gift registrations, volunteer opportunities including course setup days, and donation or sponsorship options are available. A signed online waiver is required during registration. Awards will recognize the top three male and top three female finishers. The event observes International Day of Peace and directs proceeds to support the Student Veterans Resource Center.
