Operation Obstacle 2026 : Richland Community College
Operation Obstacle 2026 is the sixth annual timed obstacle course event presented by Richland Community College in coordination with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Illiana Health Care Suicide Prevention Team. The event is titled "The Race to End Veteran Suicide" and is planned for September 19, 2026 at the Richland Community College Fitness Center, College Park, Decatur, IL.
The course is a mostly flat, 2-mile obstacle course with an estimated 20 to 25 obstacles. Specific elements include short carries and pulls, army net crawls, and obstacles that require climbing over, under, and through structures. A fire truck hose down is planned at the finish area. Participants receive a finisher's challenge coin and a goodie bag, and shirts are available for purchase during registration.
Participants are placed into competitive, semi-competitive, and non-competitive corrals; the non-competitive corral accommodates joggers and walkers who may skip some or all obstacles. Registration is online only through Race Roster and requires completion of an online waiver. Participants must be 18 years of age to register. Proceeds support Richland Community College's Student Veterans' Resource Center. Sponsors donating $100 or more will have a sponsorship sign displayed at the event. The event observes International Day of Peace on September 21. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
