Onion Man Triathlon - Walla Walla
The Onion Man Triathlon is an Olympic-distance triathlon held on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Bennington Lake near the base of the Blue Mountains in Walla Walla, Washington. The event has a 300 participant cap and accepts individual athletes, relay teams, and special teams. Categories listed include individual age-group, two- and three-person relays, Aquabike, Athena and Clydesdale, and a Special Teams category for a fully-abled athlete paired with a disabled athlete.
The race distances are:
- 1.5 km lake swim
- 40 km rolling bike
- 10 km run
The bike course follows the 2025 route: Five Mile Hill, down Russell Creek Road to Berney Drive, a short out-and-back on Scenic Loop Road, then back to Bennington Lake. The course will not go through Walla Walla Community College and instead continues straight on Tausick Way, turning right onto E. Isaacs Ave. In accordance with USA Triathlon rules, bar end plugs are required on all bikes.
Registration opens October 25, 2025. Most categories close April 6, 2026; the Special Teams category closes May 16, 2026. Registration includes a custom water bottle, a tube of Hammer Fizz, a post-race meal, and one beer in a custom pint glass. Additional post-race meals and non-participant beers are available for an extra fee. There is no day-of registration, no wait list if the race fills, and no refunds, transfers, or deferrals.
The event is USA Triathlon sanctioned (Event ID #353769). USAT members must provide their membership number and be prepared to show a valid membership card; all participants must show photo ID. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
