One Step Closer
One Step Closer is a timed endurance event organized by Orca Running on August 14, 2027, at Lincoln Park in Seattle, Washington. The event runs multiple timed categories on a scenic loop course and includes a separate Kids Loopy 30 Minute race.
Participants run as many laps as they can on a roughly two mile loop that combines waterfront and forest terrain. The first mile follows the Puget Sound shoreline on mostly paved and packed gravel paths and passes Bruun Idun, the park troll. The second mile climbs a short single track into upper park trails under evergreens and through ferns, then returns to the start/finish area.

On course support includes a start/finish festival area every two miles with rotating snacks, music, a loop tally station and activity stalls. A volunteer aid station sits near the waterfront one mile into the loop with water and seasonal treats. Water and Tailwind Endurance Fuel are available throughout the event. This is a cupless race; participants are asked to bring a handheld bottle or hydration pack, though a small reusable cup can be provided.
Free gear check is available. Overall awards are given to the top three in male, female and non binary categories for each time event. The event benefits SR3 and the Trail Mix Fund. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
