One Step Closer : Lincoln Park, Seattle
One Step Closer is a timed endurance running event created by Orca Running and Evergreen Trail Runs, held at Lincoln Park in Seattle on August 15, 2026. The event uses a roughly two mile loop that participants repeat as many times as possible within their selected time category.
The course begins with about a mile along Puget Sound on a mix of paved surface and packed gravel, then climbs a short single track to upper park trails through pine and fern forest before returning to the start and finish area. The format includes these time options:
- 3 hour looped format
- 6 hour looped format
- 12 hour looped format
- 18 hour looped format There are also kids loopy races of 30 minutes and 1 hour held around the baseball field; each child receives a One Step Closer medal and all kids finish together.
Teams of 2 to 5 members may register for a team competition; the top three teams by loops receive a finisher plaque. Overall awards go to the top three male, female, and non-binary runners in each time category based on mileage and must be picked up at the event.
The event is cupless to reduce waste and notes a climate and waste reduction commitment. Aid options include snacks, water, Tailwind fuel, morning coffee and pastries, midday sandwiches and popsicles, and evening grilled burgers with a vegan option. Packet pickup is available before the race at West Seattle Runner. Parking is limited to roughly 200 spaces in the upper lot and on-street spots nearby. Free gear check is provided; participants are asked to bring a bag to protect items from wildlife. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
