One Step Closer is a timed loop event at Seattle's Lincoln Park, where runners complete as many 2-mile loops as they can in 3, 6, 12, or 18 hours. A team challenge and fun kids' races add to the summer endurance festival. All participants finish together for a shared celebration.

Event Overview

One Step Closer is a summer endurance event organized by Orca Running and Evergreen Trail Runs. It takes place at Lincoln Park in Seattle.

Course Format

The event features a format where participants run a 2-mile loop course as many times as they can within a chosen time limit. The main adult events are based on duration:

  • 3 Hour
  • 6 Hour
  • 12 Hour
  • 18 Hour

All participants in these timed events finish together with a finish line party.

Kids Events

There are also separate events for children:

  • Kids Loopy 30 Minute
  • Kids Loopy 1 Hour

Children run loops around a baseball field, can take breaks, and pass through a snack station. All children finish together in a special celebration and receive a medal.

Team Challenge

A new feature for 2026 is a "Battle of the run clubs" team challenge. During registration, participants can form teams of 2-5 members. The top three teams with the most completed loops will receive a special finishers plaque.

Practical Information

The event takes place on Saturday, August 15, 2026. A small additional tariff fee applies. Registration for the adult events includes price increases after March 31, 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
