Blue Moon 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon
The Blue Moon running event is a coastal race held in Long Beach, California. Organized by CaliFlow Runs, the event commemorates the occurrence of a blue moon with a morning run along the oceanfront. The course consists of flat, fast, and scenic pedestrian paths that are car-free and offer views of the beach. As these are held in shared public spaces, participants may encounter other local joggers and walkers.
Participants can choose between three distinct distances:
- 5 km
- 10 km
- Half Marathon
This event is open to all ages and paces, including runners, walkers, and those using strollers. The races are professionally chip-timed to ensure accurate results for all of the participants. The route includes water stations and restrooms at various intervals along the course to support the athletes.
Registered participants receive a custom finisher medal and have access to free race-day photos and downloadable finish-line images. Overall and age group awards are presented for each distance. The event features a community-focused atmosphere with finish-line music and snacks. Parking is available via nearby street parking or paid beach lots located close to the start and finish lines at Granada Beach. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
