Olympia Lakefair Races
The 2026 Olympia Lakefair Races mark the 50th anniversary of this running event held in Olympia, Washington. Participants can choose from three distinct distances:
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- 8K
- 3K
The courses take runners through Olympia and extend into parts of Tumwater and Thurston County. The 3K and 8K routes are flat paths that start and finish on 5th Avenue in front of Heritage Park. Both distances circle Capitol Lake, while the 8K course includes an additional section through Tumwater Historical Park.
The Half Marathon route travels through downtown Olympia before connecting to the Woodland Trail and Chehalis Western Trail biking paths. The course features rural streets, a short trail section, and a tour of Squaxin Park. Runners navigate tree-lined landscapes and flat, narrow paved trails, eventually returning via East Bay Drive to the finish line at Heritage Park.
Participants in the Half Marathon receive a technical shirt and a finishers medal, with discount options available for those who opt out of these items. 8K and 3K entrants receive a technical shirt, though finishers medals are not provided for these distances. Children aged 14 and under may enter the 3K for free. Following the races, an awards ceremony is held including raffle prizes and age group awards for participants up to age 90 or older. The event supports local high school athletic programs and community scholarships. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
