28th Annual Olmsted Spirit 5k
The Olmsted Spirit 5k returns for its 28th annual edition, hosted at Olmsted Falls High School in Olmsted Township, Ohio. This community event focuses on family fitness and active lifestyles, with proceeds supporting local educational institutions including the elementary, middle, and high schools. The event features a variety of participation options for different age groups and fitness levels:
- 5k (USATF certified course)
- 1 Mile Walk
- 400m Youth Fun Run
- 100m youth dash
- 50m youth dash
The 5k event begins on the Olmsted Falls High School track and transitions to local roads. Organizers recommend that participants in the 5k category are capable of running the majority of the distance, as roads are scheduled to reopen to vehicle traffic forty-five minutes after the start. The course is professionally chip-timed and USATF certified for accuracy.
Youth participants have access to several non-competitive and untimed options. The 50m dash is intended for children aged 5 and under, while the 100m dash is recommended for first graders. The 400m dash takes place on the high school track and is suggested for children in second grade and above.
All participants receive an official event shirt and a finisher medal. Awards are presented to the top overall male and female finishers in the 5k, as well as the top three finishers in various age categories ranging from 8 and under to 80 and over.
