OdySea "Aquari-RUN" 5K
This is the fifth annual OdySea Aquari-RUN 5K, described as an octopus-themed fundraiser with the tagline "An Ink-Credible Dash for Conservation." The event supports the OdySea Aquarium Foundation, a non-profit partner of the OdySea Aquarium that supports local education programs and conservation work. Participants are encouraged to wear octopus-themed running attire.
The event offers several participation options:
- A timed 5K run/walk.
- A 5K run/walk for kids ages 12 and under.
- An untimed Kiddie Kraken Dash for younger participants, which includes a finisher's medal and shirt.
- A virtual run option where swag is mailed.
All in-person 5K participants receive a custom finisher's medal and a dri-fit event shirt (with an option to decline the shirt for a discount). There are age group awards for the top three male and female finishers in the 5K, covering a wide range of age categories from 8 & under to 80 & over. A costume contest offers prizes such as aquarium tickets or animal artwork. Finishers can also show their medal on race day for a discount on admission to the OdySea Aquarium.
The event includes a pre- and post-race "Runner's Brunch" with items like granola bars, fruit, water, and Gatorade. It is chip-timed, with real-time results and photos available online. The event is managed by StartLine Racing.
The event is leashed-pet friendly and welcomes wheelchairs, strollers, and wagons. Roller blades, skateboards, and motorized devices are not permitted on the course. The event will take place rain or shine, with no refunds or transfers due to weather.
Packet pickup is available the day before the race at Arizona Boardwalk and on race day starting at 6:30 AM at the event site. Race day registration is also available, with pricing for adults, kids, and the Kiddie Kraken Dash. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
