NZ Ultramarathon Festival : Hagley Park, Christchurch
The NZ Ultramarathon Festival stages a series of timed endurance events on a fixed, repeating loop of 1.9464 km on concrete path with 0 m elevation. The course runs through mature shaded woodlands, around Victoria and Albert Lakes and beside the Avon River.
Event formats include multiple timed durations:
- 10 Day event
- 6 Day event
- 72 Hour event
- 48 Hour event
- 24 Hour event
- 6 Hour event
- 3 Hour event
Each lap returns to The Hub, where food, drink and rest facilities are provided. The event is fully catered during event hours; vegan and gluten free options are available. Athletes may run, walk or rest between laps; there are no hourly whistles or intermediate cutoffs and the only cut off is the final whistle.
Entries include on-site first aid, a medal for all athletes and trophies for male and female individual winners. Multi-day participants can hire tents or stretchers and may purchase crew meals; 10 Day athletes are required to bring at least one support person for the first four days. Teams consist of two athletes with only one on course at a time; all team members receive a medal.
