NYMAC Spring Relays
The event is a club-organised 4 x one mile relay held at Stewart Park, Ladgate Lane, Middlesbrough (TS7 8AT). Teams of four each run a measured one mile leg on a certified course that uses almost the first mile of the Stewart Park parkrun route. The course is waymarked and marshalled and is certified as a measured one mile.
Teams compete in multiple prize categories including male open, female open, male 200 year, female 160 year, mixed team, fastest leg awards and a Race Director special prize. The male 200 year and female 160 year categories require the combined ages of the four runners to be at least 200 or 160 years respectively on race day. Minimum age for all categories is 10 years. Mixed teams may use any combination of ages and genders.
Entry is online only; fees are £16 per affiliated team and £18 per non affiliated team. The event is limited to a maximum of 100 teams and is often oversubscribed. The race uses a massed start just outside the Captain Cook museum and a team’s finish is recorded when the fourth runner crosses the finish line. Baton exchanges must occur within the 7 metre change over area or immediately after the finish line.
The park is open to the public during the event. Toilets are available at the Henry Bolckow Centre. Earphones and similar devices are not permitted and competitors take part at their own risk. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
