NYCRUNS Brooklyn Ice Cream Social 5K
The event is a USATF-certified 5K run in Prospect Park that covers just under one full loop of the park, finishing with a final sprint up Center Drive. The Festival Area is located in the Nethermead and is the central hub for bib pickup, gear check, restroom access, and shirt distribution before the race. Bike parking in the Festival Area is prohibited.
On-site amenities include a bag check that requires a single clear bag (an 18 x 24 clear bag will be provided if needed), portable bathrooms, water and electrolyte fluids on course and at the finish, and post-race refreshments consisting of a bag of pretzels, an apple, and an ice cream or ice pop treat with dairy and non-dairy options. Participant shirts are available on race day only and sizes are not guaranteed. A finisher medal is presented after crossing the finish line. Race photos are delivered by email a few days after the event, with one photo available for free download and paid photo packages offered.
Bib pickup occurs in the Festival Area on race day and requires a unique QR code available the week of the race via the participant dashboard. NYCRUNS members may receive mailed bibs at no extra cost; non-members can add mailed bibs for a fee, subject to a registration lead time and U.S. mailing address requirements.
The event welcomes Handcycle and Wheelchair Division athletes and allows automatic division entry based on an athlete account designation. Standard event policies apply including no-refund no-transfer rules, restrictions on strollers and dogs, and course time limits. Results will be emailed and posted, and awards are given to top overall male, female, and non-binary finishers plus age-group awards across standard age brackets.
