NYBG 5K Fun Run

NYBG 5K Fun Run

The NYBG 5K Fun Run is the second annual 5K held at the New York Botanical Garden on November 8, 2026; the event was rescheduled from September 27. The course is a scenic 3.1-mile mix of road and trail that travels through multiple garden collections and landmarks.

The route passes through the Thain Family Forest and the Judy and Michael Steinhardt Maple Collection, and runners move by the Peggy Rockefeller Rose Garden, Burn Family Lilac Collection, the Library and Conservatory, the Lillian and Amy Goldman Stone Mill, and the Mertz Building. The finish is adjacent to the Native Plant Garden with a procession along the Mitsubishi Wetland Trail to post-run festivities on Daffodil Hill. The course includes varying elevation and uneven surfaces and is not ADA accessible.

This year’s course includes approximately one mile of new terrain compared with the prior year. The event is non-competitive; timing clocks will be present at the start and finish for personal reference. There will be one water station on course at the halfway point and water available at the finish. Live music will be provided by the Fordham Pep Band. Post-run activities on Daffodil Hill include meet-and-greets with NYBG experts and the Boogie Down Bronx Run Club, lawn games, a stretch zone, food for purchase, and T-shirt pickup.

Participation is open to individuals ages 13 and older; participants under 18 must have permission and be accompanied by a registered adult. No strollers are permitted and there is no bag check. Tickets list standard pricing as $55 for members and $65 for non-members; registration is limited and will close on November 7 or when capacity is reached. Parking is not available inside NYBG; off-site lots across the street and a nearby garage offer paid, first-come, first-served spaces. Participants receive an in-store runner discount at the NYBG Shop on the run day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
