About the race
NUTS Karhunkierros is a trail running event held 28.–29.5.2027 in Ruka and Kuusamo. The event offers multiple race distances; the long routes run through Oulanka National Park and all courses finish in Ruka. The organiser lists route types, key terrain features, and logistical notes for each distance.
Distances:
- 166 km Rukalta Napapiirille ja takaisin, requires night navigation and route planning.
- 83 km Hautajärveltä Napapiiriltä Oulangan jokilaakson ja metsäpolkujen kautta Rukalle.
- 55 km Oulangan luontokeskukselta Rukalle metsien ja vaarojen kautta.
- 34 km Juumasta Rukalle metsäpolkuja, jokikanjonien maisemia ja riippusiltoja.
- 13 km Rukan vaaramaisemissa oleva lyhyempi mutta mäkinen reitti. Ikäraja: täytät tapahtumavuoden aikana 12 vuotta.
The organiser notes that longer distances include significant climbs and sections that affect planning of aid points and pacing. Practical information such as participation fees, event guide details, arrival and parking at Ruka, and the event centre at Rukan ski resort are provided separately.
