Nutcracker Half
The Nutcracker Half takes place in Luverne on July 11, 2026, with activities based at Luverne City Park. The half marathon uses the Ashby Trail and the Luverne Loop. A walking option follows the same 13.1 mile course.
The relay covers the half marathon distance with teams of two to four runners and designated exchange areas. Approximate relay leg distances are 4 miles, 3.2 miles, 3 miles, and 2.9 miles; the final leg can be divided into 1.2 miles and 1.7 miles.
There are two kids races that start and end at Luverne City Park. One is a half mile event for children ages 9 to 12. The other is a short half of 0.33 miles for children ages 2 to 8.
A separate fun run of 0.5 miles is a costume event open to all ages; it may be run individually or as a relay with unlimited members. Awards are listed for overall male, overall female, overall relay, and best costumes.
