The Watermelon 5K Run/Walk, Eisenhower Park
The Watermelon 5K Run/Walk is scheduled at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow on July 11, 2027. Registration is not yet open. The event offers both in-person and virtual participation; virtual entries can upload time and photos and receive event items shipped on the same date as the in-person event.
Amenities include a personalized bib for entrants who register at least three weeks in advance and race shirts guaranteed for early registrants while supplies last. Finish-line provisions list fresh watermelon, snacks from All Round Foods, and Waterloo Sparkling Water. Hydration is provided on course and at the finish. Public bathrooms are available near the start and finish. There is no formal bag check though an informal area for belongings is available in the staging area.
The race is part of the USATF-LI Grand Prix and is scored as a team event. Awards include watermelons for top finishers, with top male and female overall placements recognized and top male and female winners in age groups including 14 and under, 15 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, 70 to 79, 80 to 89, and 90 and over.
Bibs may be picked up in person starting one hour before the event. Entrants who register at least ten days in advance can pay to have their bib mailed prior to the race. Live online, email, and text results are available along with same-day finish line photos and video. A portion of event proceeds benefits the Never Stop Running Foundation.
