NSRF The Watermelon 5K
The Never Stop Running Foundation (NSRF) organizes The Watermelon 5K at Eisenhower Park. This summer running event takes place in East Meadow, New York, and features a scenic course through the park. In addition to the main distance, there is a free kiddie fun run.
The race offers several participation options:
- 5 km (Run or Walk)
- 5 km (Virtual)
The in-person 5 km is a team scoring race and is part of the USATF-LI Grand Prix, Long Island's Running Series. Participants who register at least three weeks in advance receive a personalized bib with their name. Those who register early are also guaranteed an event t-shirt. Amenities at the event include hydration on the course and at the finish line, as well as access to public bathrooms near the staging area. There is no formal bag check, though an informal area for personal belongings is available.
Following the race, participants can access live online results and finish line photographs. Awards are provided to the top overall male and female finishers, as well as the top finishers in age groups ranging from 14 and under to 90 and older. The virtual option allows runners to complete the distance at any location and upload their times and photos to a digital leaderboard. A portion of the proceeds from the event supports the Never Stop Running Foundation, a non-profit organization that promotes athletic development and community involvement.
