The Watermelon 5K Run/Walk at Eisenhower Park
The Watermelon 5K is a summer run and walk event held at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, New York. The event includes an in-person 5K run/walk and a free kiddie fun run. It is part of the USATF-LI Grand Prix and is organized as a team scoring race.

Amenities include a personalized bib for entrants who register at least three weeks in advance and race shirts while supplies last for early registrants. Finish-line refreshments and giveaways include fresh watermelon and products from event partners, with hydration available on course and at the finish. Public bathrooms are located near the start and finish. There is no formal bag check; an informal area is provided for race belongings.
Entry options include an in-person race and a virtual option where participants can upload time and photos; virtual race items begin shipping on the same date as the in-person event. Bib pickup is available in person; mailed bibs are offered for a fee if requested within the stated advance window. Bibs should be worn visibly on the torso for accurate reading.
Awards are unique: watermelons are awarded to top finishers, including top male and female overall and top male and female in standard age-group categories.
A portion of event proceeds benefits the Never Stop Running Foundation, a 501(c)(3) supporting athletic and charitable programs and Olympic development for emerging local elite and post-collegiate runners.
