Fallback Half Marathon & 5K at Heckscher State Park
The event takes place on November 1, 2026 at Heckscher State Park - Field 4 and offers both in-person and virtual participation. The event is held rain or shine and includes on-site check-in at the gazebo east of the start line, between Fields 1 and 4.
Distances:
- Half Marathon - 4 loops on a USATF certified course
- 5K - 1 loop on the same course
The course is USATF certified. Start and finish are at the east end of Field 4. The half marathon has a cutoff of 2 hours and 45 minutes; participants must begin their final loop within the event cutoff rules. Split timing requires runners to cross finish mats on each loop for accurate split times and photos.
On-site amenities include an informal bag check area, public bathrooms within a few minutes' walk, finish-line hydration, and post-race refreshments provided by All Round Foods and Waterloo Sparkling Water. Finisher items include a cuckoo medal and a Fallback tee. Virtual participants may log times and upload photos from November 1 through November 8, and bib mailing is available for an additional fee if requested within the specified registration window.
