2026 NSRF Fallback Half Marathon & 5K
The NSRF Fallback Half Marathon & 5K takes place at Heckscher State Park in East Islip. Held on the day clocks move back for daylight saving time, the event features a USATF certified course that passes through the park's scenic fall foliage. The start and finish lines are located at the east end of Field 4, with check-in situated at the gazebo between Fields 1 and 4.
Participants can choose from the following distances:
- Half Marathon (4 loops)
- 5K Run/Walk (1 loop)
The event includes a total time limit of 2 hours and 45 minutes for all participants. Those competing in the Half Marathon must begin their final loop by a specified cutoff time to ensure completion within the course window. For the Half Marathon, runners are required to cross the timing mats at the end of each loop to record accurate split times.
Amenities at the venue include public bathrooms within a short walk of the staging area and an informal bag check. Hydration is provided at the finish line, with additional water stations available for Half Marathon participants on each loop. Refreshments are served following the race. Participants receive a themed cuckoo medal and a t-shirt. For those unable to attend in person, virtual registration options are available for both distances, allowing runners to log their times and photos online during the first week of November. Proceeds from the event support the Never Stop Running Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on athletic and charitable community programs.
