NSRF Fallback Half Marathon & 5K : Heckscher State Park
The NSRF Fallback event takes place on November 1, 2026 at Heckscher State Park, Field 4 in East Islip, NY. The event runs rain or shine and offers in-person and virtual participation options.
Distances offered:
- Half Marathon 4 loops on a USATF certified course
- 5K 1 loop on the same certified course
The half marathon uses repeated loops of the certified course; participants must observe a race cutoff of 2 hours and 45 minutes and begin their final loop before the published cutoff. Check-in is at the gazebo just east of the start area, between Fields 1 and 4. Public bathrooms are a few minutes' walk from the start and finish.
Amenities include an informal bag check area, on-course water available for half marathoners on each loop, and hydration at the finish. Postrace refreshments are provided by All Round Foods and Waterloo Sparkling Water. Finishers receive a cuckoo medal and a Fallback event tee.
Virtual entrants may record and upload times and up to five photos during the virtual window from November 1 to November 8. Bib mailing is available for a fee if registration occurs at least ten days before the event. Age-group results are tracked online, with categories from 14 and under through 90 and older.
