Fallback Half Marathon & 5K
The event takes place on November 1, 2026 at Heckscher State Park - Field 4 in East Islip, NY. It offers in-person and virtual options for two race distances and uses a USATF certified course. The course layout is looped: the 5K is one loop and the Half Marathon is four loops. A cutoff of 2 hours and 45 minutes applies to the half marathon.
Check in is at the gazebo east of the start line, between Fields 1 and 4. An informal bag check area will be available in the staging area. Public bathrooms are located within a few minutes walk of the start and finish areas. Water is provided at the finish line, and half marathoners receive water on each loop. Post-race refreshments are provided by All Round Foods and Waterloo Sparkling Water. Finishers receive a cuckoo medal and a fallback event tee.
Virtual participants have from November 1 through November 8 to upload times and up to five photos; virtual entries receive mailed items as available. Bib mailing is offered for an additional fee when requested within the listed registration window. Registration fees are non-refundable. Donations collected for the event benefit the Never Stop Running Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization that supports youth, special needs, and elite athlete programs.
