Event Overview
The NSBC Spring Into Service 5K is a community fundraising run in support of the Boxes of Hope Ministry, an annual food box and outreach program by New Salem Baptist Church. The event is scheduled for Saturday, April 18, 2026.
Location and Parking
The event will start and finish at 310 E. Poplar Street in Griffin, Georgia, specifically at the Old Taylor School parking lot across from the Griffin Stadium. Parking is available in surrounding area lots.
Event Format and Amenities
The race covers a 5K distance (3.1 miles). It is not chip-timed to maximize funds raised for charity. A timing crew will manually record finishers' times. Participants will receive a race bib, a T-shirt (guaranteed for those registered by April 1, 2026), and a post-race hot breakfast. There will be one water station approximately halfway through the course.
Registration and Logistics
Registration options are available for both an in-person 5K and a virtual "Ghost Runner" option, each priced at $30. Registration remains open online until 7:45 AM on race day. On-site packet pickup and registration will be available from 7:00 AM to 7:45 AM on race day. Cash or check payments are accepted for race day registration.
Race Day Information
A pre-race gathering with music, prayer, and remarks begins at 7:30 AM. The course is an open road route and will be marked, with volunteers and local police support provided. Runners, walkers, and strollers are welcome; pets are not permitted. An age group awards ceremony will follow the race. Awards are given for overall, masters (age 40+), and various age categories.
