About the race
Notos Ultra-Trail is a trail running event in the Centre-du-Québec region that presents multiple distances on single-day courses through forests, mountains and along the Appalaches. Routes pass by local features such as the Boisé des Frères, Mont Arthabaska, the Sentier des trotteurs and visible wind farms between Saint-Ferdinand and Victoriaville. The event is sanctioned by the Fédération québécoise d’athlétisme. Distances range from short initiation runs to ultra distances and include a team option.
Several courses are linear and require a mandatory shuttle for transportation to the start. Course characteristics published by the organizer include elevation gain and number of aid stations; the longest solo course lists 2125 m of elevation gain and six aid stations. Shorter options include a 5 km loop (actual distance indicated as 5.2 km) and an initiation circuit of 1 and 2 km with on-site animation. Safety is provided by the Canadian ski patrol, the Sûreté du Québec and event volunteers; local hospital services are informed of the event.
Participants have options for bib pickup the day before at a designated retail location or on the morning of the event. A team format for the 65 km distance allows two runners to split the course with a relief point at Trottier. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
