North West Triathlon
The North West Triathlon takes place in Nantwich, Cheshire at Barony Park and Nantwich Leisure Centre on Sunday 20 September 2026. The event uses an outdoor heated brine pool for the swim, a one-lap 21 km cycle around the Cheshire countryside, and a lapped run in and around Barony Park.
The event offers multiple race formats with split transition areas at Nantwich Leisure Centre and Barony Park. All entrants receive an official finisher medal and the event is electronically chip timed. The bike course is described as undulated and the run course is flat and off road. Competitors must count their own swim lengths and their own bike and run laps, and wearing a cycle helmet is compulsory on the bike section.
On-site facilities at Barony Park include hot and cold food, refreshments, toilets and a children’s play area. A separate North West UK Kids Fun Duathlon for 5 to 16 year olds is held on the Saturday. Relay teams can consist of two or three members who complete different disciplines and pass the electronic chip between teammates.
A dedicated CRUK Wave uses the 200 m swim, 21 km cycle and 2.5 km run format and includes a donation element for Cancer Research UK. The venue is noted as one of the older triathlon sites in the UK and the swim pool is one of the only heated outdoor brine pools in Great Britain.
