Event overview
The 16th Annual Head for the Cure 5K - North Texas takes place on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Red Tail Pavilion in Plano, Texas. Proceeds will benefit brain tumor research and support, including UT Southwestern, Grey Matters Support Group, Path to Hope, and other national brain cancer programs and initiatives. The campaign has raised about $639.50 toward a $200,000 goal.
Distances and race options
- 5K road event for participants ages 10 and up.
- Kids Fun Run for children 9 and younger (untimed 100-yard dash).
- Virtual participation option for those not attending in person.
Registration and inclusions
Early bird 5K registration is listed at $34 and includes an event t-shirt, timing bib, and medal. An early bird 5K plus dog registration is listed at $49 and includes a person’s t-shirt, timing bib, medal, and a dog bandana. Kids Fun Run entry is listed at $25 and includes a t-shirt and ribbon. Virtual registration is listed at $40 and includes a mailed t-shirt and finishers medal; virtual entrants cannot pick up race materials in person. All attendees are given the opportunity to fundraise.

Packet pick up is scheduled for Friday with specific times to be determined, and day-of packet pick up is available.
