Event overview
The No Hands Trail Run takes place at American River Overlook Park in Auburn, California on January 10, 2026. The event offers four distances with a combined capacity of 400 runners. The 50K has an 8.5 hour time limit. All races are chip timed using MyLaps and Race Director; disposable chips are attached to the back of each bib.
Course, aid, and logistics
Courses follow historic Western States trail sections, cross No Hands Bridge, and include the K2 training hill and the Overlook Hill. The 50K route crosses Highway 49 to use the Wendell T. Robie trail and additional Auburn State Recreation Area trails. Most of the terrain is technical dirt trail; the half marathon and 8K include steep hills. Hiking or trekking poles are permitted.
Aid stations provide a range of foods and drinks such as energy gels, stroopwafels, trail mix, sandwiches, soda, water, and Skratch Labs hydration. Aid stations carry basic first aid items but not anti-inflammatory medicines. Drop bag service is not available. The event is cupless; runners must carry their own bottle or reusable cup. Reusable HydraPak cups will be sold at the event for $5. Organizers strongly encourage runners to carry at least one 20 oz bottle. Parking is free within the park and on adjacent streets.
