No Hands Trail Run - Auburn, CA, January 9, 2027
The No Hands Trail Run is organized by Inside Trail Racing and takes place in Auburn, California. The event uses sections of the historic Western States trail and single-track routes along the American River and surrounding canyons.
Distances
- 8K - single-track trails along the banks and canyons of the American River.
- Heavy Half Marathon - crosses No Hands Bridge then climbs K2 and Overlook Hill.
- 35K - extended route using trail connections in the Auburn State Recreation Area.
- 50K - crosses highway 49 to traverse the Wendell T. Robie trail and additional Auburn trails.
Course notes include steep climbs such as the K2 training hill and the Overlook Hill before the finish, plus a short flat section near the finish line. The 50K has an overall time limit of 8.5 hours. The start and finish area is at American River Overlook Park. Parking is free within the park and on adjacent streets; carpooling is encouraged. Event capacity is limited to 400 runners across all distances. Registration closes on January 8, 2027 at 11:59 PM PT.
Aid stations provide a variety of food and beverages including energy gels, chews, trail mix, soda, Skratch Labs hydration, PB&J, fruit, and basic first aid items; anti inflammatory medicine is not provided. This is a cupless event so runners must carry their own bottle or reusable cup. Race shirts are tri blend performance tees and to guarantee a shirt and size entries must be completed by December 26, 2026.
