NipMuck Trail Marathon

The NipMuck Trail Marathon is scheduled for October 4, 2026 in Ashford, Connecticut. The event is organized by the Shenipsit Striders and takes place on the Nipmuck Trail near Perry Hill Road.

  • 26.4 miles marathon on the Nipmuck Trail
  • Relay for teams of two where each runner completes one half of the course

The race course follows a 13 mile segment in the middle of the 36 mile Nipmuck Trail, beginning at Perry Hill Road. The marathon runs south about 6.2 miles to Route 44 and returns to the start, then continues north about 7 miles to Boston Hollow Road and back to Perry Hill Road. The trail includes rocks, roots, mud, and wood bridges. Sixty percent of expected time is spent in the second half because of hills and a bit more distance.

Logistics note that shirt orders must be placed before September 12. Registration closes on October 1. Course cutoffs are expressed as elapsed times: reach the midpoint near 12.4 miles in 3 hours 15 minutes, reach the second turnaround near 19.4 miles in 5 hours 20 minutes, and finish in 8 hours. Participants are asked to stay home if they do not feel well on race day.

The Shenipsit Striders are a nonprofit trail running club established in 1975 that donates to Connecticut trail stewardship and land use programs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
