NipMuck Trail Marathon, Ashford CT

The NipMuck Trail Marathon is a trail running event organized by the Shenipsit Striders in Ashford, Connecticut. The main event is a 26.4 mile trail marathon on a midsection of the Nipmuck Trail. The course features rocks, roots, mud, wood bridges and varied trail terrain.

The route follows a 13 mile segment of the 36 mile Nipmuck Trail, beginning at Perry Hill Road. Runners go south about 6.2 miles to Route 44 and return to the start, then run north roughly 7 miles to Boston Hollow Road and back to the finish at Perry Hill Road. Organizers note that roughly 60% of elapsed time is spent in the second half of the race due to hills and additional distance.

There is a relay option for two-person teams, with one runner completing the first half and the second runner completing the second half of the course. Race shirts are available as an add-on when registering; shirt orders must be placed before September 12. Registration closes on October 1.

The event includes published course cutoffs: midpoint (12.4 mi) in 3 hours 15 minutes, second turnaround (19.4 mi) in 5 hours 20 minutes, and a finish cutoff of 8 hours.
