Race Options

Participants can choose between two options: the NipMuck Trail Marathon or the NipMuck Relay.

The NipMuck Trail Marathon is a 26.4 mile trail race on Connecticut's Nipmuck Trail. The course features varied terrain.

The NipMuck Relay is for teams of two runners. Each runner completes one half of the marathon course.

Race shirts are available for purchase separately during registration or after. Orders must be placed before September 12.

Logistics

The race starts at the corner of Lipps Rd and Perry Hill Rd in Ashford, CT. There is a pre-race briefing at 7:45 AM. Course cut-off times are in place: a 3 hour 15 minute limit to reach the midpoint (~12.4 miles), a 5 hour 20 minute limit to reach the second turnaround (~19.4 miles), and an 8 hour limit to finish.

Course

The marathon course follows a 13-mile segment of the Nipmuck Trail, starting on Perry Hill Road. The route goes south for 6.2 miles, then returns to the start, then goes north for 7 miles before turning back to the finish. The second half of the race has more hills.

Organizer

The event is organized by the Shenipsit Striders, a trail running club started in 1975. The club donates to Connecticut trail stewardship and land use programs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
