Night Howler 50
Night Howler 50 is a 50-mile ultramarathon held at Hoover Sports Park East in Hoover, Alabama and organized by The Running Birds. The race is run primarily through the night on a clearly marked loop course.
The course is a 2.5-mile loop that crosses a bridge above the Cahaba River, descends four flights of stairs into wooded trails, and returns to the building in the middle of the baseball fields where the start, finish, and aid station are located. Runners must complete twenty laps to reach 50 miles. The official finishing cutoff is 16 hours; finishers within that time receive a custom belt buckle.
All participants must be 19 or older. The start/finish area offers space for crews and personal aid setups outside the race course. Runners may receive aid between laps and pacers are allowed on course.
Packet pickup is at the start/finish area on race day; participants must present photo identification to receive a race bib and a custom race t-shirt. Entries are nonrefundable; transfers and deferrals are handled by the organizer.
Aid at the start/finish is full service and includes fruits, pickles, and some hot options at specified times. This is a cup-less event; runners must bring their own cups or bottles.
