Event Overview
The Newtown 5K is the 44th annual edition of the event. The run takes place in Newtown, Ohio, starting and finishing at Moundview Park.
Course Details
The course is 3.1 miles long and takes place on residential streets. It is relatively flat and has mile splits. First aid and water are available on the course.
Participation and Events
The event includes two separate activities with distinct starts: a 5K Run and a 5K Walk. Walkers must walk the entire distance; running is not allowed. There is a free kids fun run for children after the main 5K event.
Awards and Competitions
Awards are given for overall male and female runners and walkers, as well as for the first Newtown residents in those categories. Age group awards are available for multiple divisions in both the run and walk. The event also features corporate and school team competitions.
Logistics and Registration
Registration is exclusively online, including on race day. There is no on-site or mail-in registration. A race t-shirt is available for an additional cost while supplies last. Participants are encouraged to bring a canned good or non-perishable item for the Inter-Parish Ministries food pantry. The race uses reusable chip timing with shoe tags.
