Newington Library 5K Challenge
The Newington Library 5K Challenge is the 29th annual 5K road race held to benefit the Lucy Robbins Welles Library in Newington, CT. The course is described as flat, fast, and certified. The event takes place at Millpond Park and Garfield Street.
Registration fees vary by date and category: $25 for early bird registration from February 1 through March 31, $30 from April 1 through online registration closing on May 15, $35 for packet pickup or race day, and $10 for children 12 and under. The first 200 registrants receive a dri-fit T-shirt. Gender categories listed are Male, Female, Nonbinary/Genderqueer, and Prefer Not To Say.
Two packet pickup options are offered: the Saturday prior at the library and on race morning. Electronic timing will be used. Mile markers and water stations are provided along the course. A warm up is scheduled before the 5K. Post-race refreshments are provided by local sponsors and select vendors will be on site. An awards ceremony and free raffle drawings for registered participants are included. Race results will be posted onsite and online. All participants will receive a 2026 Dining Partner Ticket valid at participating restaurants.
A Little Readers Sprint for children ages 2 to 5 follows the 5K. Children must be accompanied by a registered runner or walker; fees are waived when the accompanying adult is a registered participant. A parental waiver is required.
