Newcastle Marathon

The Henderson Newcastle Marathon and Half Marathon takes place on Sunday 18 April 2027 in Newcastle, NSW, with both events based at the Foreshore Car Park off Wharf Road, near Customs House.
The event offers two distances:
- Marathon : four laps of the course.
- Half Marathon : one lap of the same route.
The course runs along Newcastle harbour and beaches, including Honeysuckle Foreshore, Carrington, Nobbys, Newcastle Beach, the Breakwall (modified), Queens Wharf, Honeysuckle Boardwalk and Bathers Way. The route is approximately half on closed roads and half on wide footpaths; some sections are narrower and marshals will be stationed in higher-traffic areas. The course will be remeasured and AIMS accredited. Marathon timing checkpoints are positioned at key points and at the start/lap area. The course is described as flat with one short gentle rise near Newcastle Baths and Newcastle Beach.
Entries follow tiered pricing periods with published fees for each event and age minimums. Included with entry are a finishers medal, race bib with an embedded timing chip (no chip return required), electronic timing with live results, regular drink stations with electrolyte and water, special needs tables, medical services, and a secure bag area. Bib mailing is available for a fee. Prize money totaling $3,500 is awarded to the top three overall marathon finishers, distributed equally by gender.
