About the race
The Lake Macquarie Triathlon Festival and New U Run takes place at Speers Point Park on the shores of Lake Macquarie and runs across a two day weekend of multi-sport racing. The event includes triathlon, aquabike, aquathlon and community runs with swim, cycle and run legs using the lake foreshore and adjacent roads.
Swim sections use calm, protected waters and most swim starts begin from the jetty with safety instructions for feet-first jumps. Cycle courses run on The Esplanade on closed roads with course laps described by organizers. Run courses follow the lakeside foreshore path.
Event options include:
- New U Run distances: 10 km, 5 km, 2 km Other multisport options on the second day include Standard, Sprint and Super Sprint triathlon formats, aquabike, an aquathlon and a series of junior triathlons with specified age-group distances.
Prize money is offered for overall male and female winners in the Standard and Sprint triathlons with amounts stated for first to third places. Age category placings are awarded across standard TriNSW categories and all finishers receive a medal. The organizer publishes a staged refund policy with partial refunds available up to 14 days before the event and no refunds within 14 days of the event.
