About the race
Lake Macquarie Triathlon Festival and New U Run is a two-day multisport event held at Speers Point Park on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 February 2027. The program combines open road triathlon and aquathlon races with a separate New U Run day on Saturday. The venue offers calm, protected swim waters, closed-road cycling along The Esplanade, and scenic lakeside running on the foreshore path.
Event options include a New U Run day and multiple multisport formats on the second day:
- New U Run distances: 10 km, 5 km, 2 km
- Triathlon and aquabike options: Standard, Sprint, Super Sprint
- Junior triathlons and aquathlon events
Course notes: swims start from the end of the jetty with deep water starts for most races and a junior launch for younger competitors. Cycling is run on a repeated 6.6 km loop on The Esplanade with roads closed for the event. All runs use the lake foreshore path, with specific lap counts varying by race distance and category.
Entries follow staged pricing windows (early bird, standard, late, very late) with defined date ranges. Prize money is offered for overall male and female winners in Standard and Sprint triathlons, with specified amounts for first, second and third places. Age categories span junior to masters classes, and all finishers receive a medal. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
