New York Harriers Mile & Donut Relay
The New York Harriers Mile & Donut Relay is an annual local race in New York City hosted by the New York Harriers. Recent events have included a one-mile track race and a team Donut Relay. The 2026 edition is scheduled for August 22, 2026 at Riverbank State Park - Track & Football Field.
The Harrier Mile is run in multiple heats on the East River track. Heats are timed and official timing and professional photography have been provided in qualified years.
The Donut Relay is run by teams of four. Each team member must eat one regular-sized yeast donut and then run one quarter mile (400 m) on the track. The donut must be fully consumed and swallowed before the lap begins. Competitors may use a cup of water with their donut. Organizers can provide vegan or gluten-free donut options when needed. A runner may compete on multiple relay teams, but must eat and run separately for each team entry.
Additional event details include published results from past years, entry fees set by event costs, and awards. Entry fees listed are $25 per person for the mile and $30 per team for the donut relay. Awards are given to overall and age-group winners for the mile and to Women’s, Men’s, and Mixed relay teams; additional prizes for creativity may also be awarded.
