Hayfield Hustle and Oktoberfest at New Pond Farm
The event at New Pond Farm in Redding, CT combines multiple running events with an Oktoberfest celebration on the farm grounds. Races take place on country roads, pastures and fields that the farm harvests for hay, and activities continue on the farm property.
Distances offered:
- 5 Mile scenic rolling course past hayfields and rolling pastures
- 5K out and back through farmland and winding country roads
- Children’s Sap Run 1K untimed run through maple trees and along farm features
The 5 Mile course includes gentle hills, views of a waterfall, passage by the Mark Twain Library, and a finish through the dairy barn. The 5K route features some steeper hills and a downhill finish through the dairy barn; jogging strollers are allowed on the 5K course. The Children’s Sap Run highlights the stream, pond, and animals and is untimed.
Race registration includes entry to the Oktoberfest on the same day. The Oktoberfest program includes live music, a scavenger hunt across 102 acres of pasture and woodlands, games, hay rides, beer available and food for purchase. Proceeds benefit the New Pond Farm Education Center, a nonprofit dairy farm and environmental education center that focuses on conservation and sustainable farming practices.
