New Pond Farm Hayfield Hustle and Oktoberfest
The New Pond Farm Hayfield Hustle is a set of running events and a family friendly Oktoberfest held on 09/26/2026 at New Pond Farm in Redding, Connecticut. The races benefit New Pond Farm Education Center, a nonprofit dairy farm and environmental education center that teaches conservation and sustainable farming.
Distances offered:
- 5 Mile course past rolling pastures and hayfields.
- 5K course through farmland and winding country roads.
- 1K Children's Sap Run through maple trees and around farm features.
The 5 mile course includes gentle hills, views by a waterfall near the Mark Twain Library, and finishes by passing through the dairy barn. The 5K moves through picturesque farmland, includes some challenging hills, and finishes with a downhill stretch through the dairy barn. The Children’s Sap Run is untimed and highlights the stream, pond, and farm animals; it follows the maple stand used for sap collection.
Participants are welcome at all paces, including walkers. Jogging strollers are allowed only on the 5K course.
The Oktoberfest portion includes live music, a scavenger hunt across 102 acres of pasture and woodlands, games, hay rides, beer, and food available for purchase. Some entries are for Oktoberfest only. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
