About the race
New England Challenge II is a series of USATF-sanctioned road races held across Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island. Full marathon courses are USATF certified and each venue uses looped courses with an out-and-back segment run before the loops. Each site provides an aid station at the start/finish with hydration and nourishment.
Old Colony Marathon at Stanley Park, Westfield, Massachusetts (USATF Certificate MA26008JK). The course is paved and described as one of the flattest on the series. One full lap is 1.84 miles; the out-and-back is run before the laps.
- Half Marathon 7 full laps plus one 0.24-mile small loop
- Full Marathon 14 full laps plus two 0.24-mile small loops
Nutmeg State Marathon at Goodwin Park & Golf Course, Hartford, Connecticut (USATF Certificate CT15013JHP). One full lap is 2.13 miles. Most of the running path is asphalt, with 0.5 mile of dirt path. Golf cart paths intersect some loops; participants are asked to yield to golf carts. The out-and-back is run before the loops.
- Half Marathon 6 full laps plus 0.3-mile out-and-back
- Full Marathon 12 full laps plus 0.64-mile out-and-back
Red Island State Marathon at Warwick City Park, Warwick, Rhode Island (USATF Certificate RI26002JK). One full lap is 2.7 miles. The course is partly wooded with slight rolling hills and includes views overlooking Narragansett Bay. The out-and-back is run before the loops.
