New Balance 5th Avenue Mile
The New Balance 5th Avenue Mile is a one-mile road race held on Sunday, September 13, 2026, on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan near Museum Mile. The course covers about 20 consecutive blocks along Fifth Avenue, passing by museums and cultural institutions in the area.
The event includes multiple heats, including invited Professional Athlete heats and invitation-only NYRR Road Mile Championships heats. Prize money is available in the Professional Athlete heats and in the NYRR Road Mile Championships heats; amounts are equal across men, women, and nonbinary categories. Prize payouts for professional heats list amounts from first through eighth place, and championship heats offer prize amounts for first through fourth place. A halfway leader bonus is specified for the Professional Athlete heats under stated finishing standards.
All registrants receive New Balance tech shorts. A free Back to School Mile for children ages 2 to 18 is offered on race day with required registration. MarathonFoto will be on course and photos will be available complimentary.
NYRR provides information on accessibility, guide and support runner requests, training resources, and a fee protection program for paid events. Bag check at the event accepts clear bags only and specific size guidelines are provided.
