New Balance 5th Avenue Mile
The New Balance 5th Avenue Mile is a one-mile road race held on a 20-block stretch of Fifth Avenue near Museum Mile in Manhattan. The course is the same as the professional field, and participants run in scored heats with wave starts.
The event includes professional athlete heats with prize money and a NYRR Road Mile Championships division with prize awards for top finishers. Prize money for invited professional athletes ranges from $5,000 for first place to $250 for eighth place; a $1,000 halfway leader bonus is available under specific finishing standards. The NYRR member division awards cash to the top four finishers. Awards are presented on site to the top three finishers in the overall men, women, and nonbinary divisions; age-group award claims are processed after the race.
All registrants receive New Balance tech shorts. MarathonFoto will be on course and photos will be available complimentary. The event offers 9+1 credit, club points, and other entry designations. A free Back to School Mile for children ages 2 to 18 is held on race day; registration for that program is free.
Race number pickup is available at the NYRR RUNCENTER at 320 West 57th Street. Live unofficial tracking is provided through the NYRR app and official results are posted after the event.
