New Balance 5th Avenue Mile
The New Balance 5th Avenue Mile is a one mile road race held on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan on Sunday, September 13, 2026. The course runs a 20 block stretch of Fifth Avenue near Museum Mile and uses the same route as the professional heats.
The event includes multiple heats, including invited Professional Athlete heats and NYRR Road Mile Championships heats that award prize money. Prize money is equal across men, women, and nonbinary categories. Awards are presented on site to the top three overall finishers in the men, women, and nonbinary divisions; age group placers can claim awards after the race.
All registrants receive a pair of New Balance tech shorts. A free Back to School Mile for children ages 2 to 18 is held on race day; registration is required for that event. The race offers wave starts and is a 9+1 program qualifier.
Event services note reusable hydration cups are used at this race and runners are encouraged to return cups to designated receptacles. Race number pickup is handled at the NYRR RUNCENTER featuring the New Balance Run Hub at 320 West 57th Street in New York. Bag check accepts only clear bags no larger than 17" wide x 20" high x 7" deep.
