Nettleden Duathlon
Nettleden Duathlon is a fundraiser held at Nettleden Lodge, Nettleden, Hemel Hempstead HP1 3DB, UK. The event raises money for Cancer Research UK, Herts Young Homeless and Harrison's Fund, with all proceeds donated to these charities.
The duathlon begins on the grounds of the Grade II-listed Nettleden Lodge and follows a partly off-road 6 km run through countryside, past Berkhamstead Golf Club and the Frithsden Copse Nature Reserve, before returning to the lodge for a transition into the bike leg. The cycle is a 24 km road route along quiet country lanes via Nettleden Road, Little Gaddesden, Ringshall and past Dockey Wood toward Ivinghoe Beacon, then back via Stocks Road, Aldbury Common and New Road to Ringshall and the lodge. A second 6 km run follows the same route and finishes at the lodge.
The course includes off-road sections and notable climbs on both run and bike routes. Facilities listed for the event include prize categories for top finishers and relay teams, tea, coffee and cake, a post-race BBQ, toilets and free but limited parking. Relay entries are accepted for teams of two or three. There is a free kids' race for ages 4 to 14 held on the lodge grounds. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
