NCS Take the Hill 5K & Kids Fun Run
This is an annual fundraising event for the North Cross School Parents' Association held on October 4, 2026 at the North Cross School Cross Country Ridgeline Trail. The course begins and ends on the red barn field on the North Cross School campus at 4254 Colonial Ave, Roanoke, VA 24018.
Distances included:
- 0.8 miles - Kids Fun Run, untimed, participation medal for each finisher
- 5K run - competitive cross-country, chip-timed by Run Roanoke
- 5K walkers only - non-timed, same course as runners
The Kids Fun Run is an untimed 0.8-mile event led by an NCS cross-country runner with other runners positioned at the back; parents may run or walk with their children. All child finishers receive a participation medal, the first three children across the line are recognized, and there is no formal medal ceremony for the untimed kids event.
The 5K run uses the NCS Ridgeline Course and is chip-timed. Awards for the run include medals for the overall top three male and female finishers, the first male and female masters (age 40 and older), and the top three in each listed age group: 9 & under, 10-12, 13-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+.
Registration opens April 1, 2026 and closes May 29, 2026. Registration fees listed are $15.00 for the Kids Fun Run, $25.00 for the 5K run, and $20.00 for the Walkers Only 5K. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
