Navajo Code Talker 10K
The Navajo Code Talker 10K is a community running event held on September 13, 2026, in Window Rock, Arizona, with start and staging near the Navajo Nation Museum and the Navajo Zoo. The main race follows a 6.2 mile loop that leaves the museum, circles the museum area, continues on the Museum Trail to the WR Dam, uses the Fish and Wildlife trail system, drops into the historic tribal government complex and returns via the WR Park. The course may be adjusted by race organizers or tribal officials.
Distances offered include:
- 10K (6.2 miles)
- 2 Miles
There are two aid stations on course supplying fluids and gels; the first is near the half-way point at the Fish and Wildlife Trailhead and the second is near the Education Center building. Pre-race breakfast bars, bananas, fluids and gels will be available at the start area. This is a cupless event so participants should use personal hydration systems.
Online registration is handled through NavajoYES. A standard registration fee of $35 is noted, with an increase to $40 on September 1; veterans categories are listed with no registration fee. Rocky Mountain Timing provides professional timing and overall and age-group awards will be presented.
Lodging options mentioned include Quality Inn in Window Rock and Navajoland Inn in St. Michael’s; additional options are available in Gallup. The event is co-sponsored by NavajoYES and Navajo Parks & Recreation, with support from the Navajo Zoo, the Navajo Nation Museum, Navajo EMS and Fire & Rescue.
