Event details
The NAV4 Ullswater Way & Challenge takes place on Saturday 1 November 2025 and is based at Parkin Memorial Hall, Pooley Bridge, CA10 2NH. There are two route options: 20 miles (Ullswater Way) and 24 miles (Ullswater Challenge). Entry fees are £35 for the 20 mile route and £40 for the 24 mile route. Entry is limited to 100 participants and the minimum age is 16 on the event date. Registration is at the event centre on the Friday evening and the morning of the event; final information and checkpoint locations are emailed to entrants.
Route and logistics
Both routes head clockwise around Ullswater, passing The Cockpit, Howtown and Hallin Fell then Glenridding. After Glenridding participants choose either the low lakeshore route via Aira Force and Gowbarrow Fell, or the higher Glencoyne traverse to Dockray and Gowbarrow Summit before rejoining the lower route. The high level section will be closed in bad weather, in which case all participants follow the lower 20 mile route. The route is waymarked with LDNP and Ullswater Way signs and will have additional signage and event staff at key points. Checkpoints provide food and drink. Individual support teams, pacing or crew are not allowed. Participants should carry suitable clothing and footwear, a waterproof jacket at minimum, and a drinks bottle or mug.
