Event Details
The Nail the Rail ail running event takes place in Martinsville, Virginia on February 28, 2026. The start and finish location is the Dick & Willie Passage’s Virginia Avenue Trailhead at 1094 Virginia Ave.
Distances
Participants can choose from two in-person race distances, both starting at the same time:
- 9 Miler: An out-and-back course on the trail.
- 5 Miler: An out-and-back course on the trail, run simultaneously with the 9 Miler.
Course Description
Both races are out-and-back routes on the trail. The 9 Miler starts at milepost 0, runs to trail milepost 4.5, and returns to the start. The 5 Miler follows the same path but turns around at trail milepost 2.5. The event's name refers to the challenge of running the 9 Miler in 60 minutes or less.
