Myles for a Mission 5K : event description
Myles for a Mission 5K is a fundraising running event held on June 13, 2026, at 3020 Grace Church Road in Salisbury, NC. The event aims to raise awareness of childhood drowning prevention and to honor the memory of a child who died in a drowning accident.
All proceeds are donated to a memorial fund that supports water safety programs. Planned uses include funding survival swim instruction for children six years and under whose families cannot afford lessons, providing CPR and First Aid and AED certification for individuals eight years and older, and offering other lifesaving water safety education for families.
The main race follows a 3.1 mile road course beginning at the Grace Lutheran Church parking lot and looping through the Grace Ridge neighborhood, covering all three neighborhood phases. A separate fun run for children ages eight and under is held on Grace Lutheran property. The event accepts recreational runners and walkers as well as competitive runners.
Awards and prizes are listed for the 5K and fun run. The 5K awards include overall and masters prizes plus age-group awards for multiple divisions. The fun run will award overall top finishers and all participants receive a finisher's medal. High tech race T-shirts are guaranteed for registrants by May 31.
