About the race
The Murihiku Women's Duathlon and Karawhiua Run/Walk is organised by the Southland Triathlon and Multisport Club and takes place on Sunday 11 April 2027 at the Cabbage Tree, with courses around Sandy Point. The duathlon is an entry level event open to women aged 10 years and above and can be entered as an individual or as a two person team. Mountain bikes are recommended over road bikes. Entry fees are $50 per participant or $100 per team for the duathlon.
Online entries close Thursday 8 April or earlier if entries sell out. Distances: - Short Course Duathlon: 500 m run, 8.5 km MTB, 2.4 km run - Long Course Duathlon: 500 m run, 17 km MTB, 3.4 km run - Short Course Run/Walk: 3.4 km approx - Long Course Run/Walk: 8.5 km approx The cycle leg leaves from the Cabbage Tree, follows Pit Road and the mountain bike track, crosses to Dunns Road and returns to the Cabbage Tree. Run sections use Dunns Road with out and back routing; the long run/walk follows the cycle course in the opposite direction to cyclists. Pre-entered participants may receive goodie bags; all finishers receive a medal, morning tea and entry into spot prize draws. Light refreshments are provided after the event.
