Muir Woods Mountain Challenge
The Muir Woods Mountain Challenge takes place at Mt. Tamalpais State Park in Stinson Beach, California. The event features technical dirt trails and fire-roads with long hills, rocky descents, fixed steps, and twisting turns. The course utilizes sections of the Coastal Trail, Matt Davis Trail, and the Dipsea Trail, offering views of the Pacific Ocean and passages through the redwood groves of Muir Woods.
Available distances include:
- 30K: Approximately 18.8 miles with 4,950 feet of elevation gain.
- Half Marathon: Approximately 13.1 miles with 3,450 feet of elevation gain.
- 10K: Approximately 6.4 miles with 1,950 feet of elevation gain.
This is a cupless event, meaning runners are responsible for carrying their own water bottles or reusable containers. Aid stations along the course provide water, electrolyte drinks, gels, and various snacks such as fruit, pretzels, and cookies. There is a 6.5-hour time limit for the 30K and Half Marathon distances.
Participants receive a custom finisher medal and a performance tri-blend t-shirt. Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three in various age groups ranging from 13 and under to 70 and over.
