Event overview
The MTC Will-o-the-Wisp is a one-day ultra event held on 21 July 2029. It forms Day 12 of the MTC ALBION thirteen-day end-to-end of England and is part of the Mount to Coast End to End Challenge series. The organiser lists the course distance in the source material as between 36–38 miles. The route runs from Liskeard to Truro, starting at Premier Inn, Haviland Road, Liskeard and finishing at Premier Inn, Truro. All finishers receive a Will-o-the-Wisp medal; male and female champions also receive trophies.
Route, entry and rules
The route follows the same course used for the MTC JOGLE event but with reduced daily distances. Competitor entries are limited to 20, with an additional allowance of 20 for ALBION entrants (maximum 40). The event enforces a minimum average speed of 4 mph - entrants who fall below this requirement may be withdrawn. The organiser provides competitor tracking devices with SOS function and supplies route maps and GPX files to entrants prior to the race. The race is cup-free so entrants must use a reusable cup.
Entry fees are shown as: MTC Will-o-the-Wisp Ultra £90.00 and MTC Will-o-the-Wisp Plus Race Package £155.00 (includes race shirt and hi-viz jacket if ordered at least four weeks before the event). A mandatory kit list is specified, including backpack, head torch with spare batteries, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone and basic first aid.
